It's all about understanding 'positionality' my friends...

For those that have been to the SFQC - think back to when you passed the star exam as the context for positionality. You weren't just worried about where you were in the forest - you worried about where you were in the forest in relation to your next point. You worried about your position in time AND space because if you didn't get to that last point in the next 47 minutes, your ass was go to be a retest - and nobody wants to endure the shame of being a retest.

The "star" isn't like some lame compass course at Fort Benning - The Star has its own identity. It's the only thing left in the SFQC that is still as pure as it was 50 years ago. Only a Green Beret can successfully negotiate the star and you have recently decided to identify as a Green Beret - not some dirty nasty leg from Kansas or some short tabber from the Eighty-Douche. You're an SF guy and you need to land nav the SF way - You can't just 'dead reckon' your way through the star exam. Pace count and azimuth will only get you so far; at some point, you just have to follow the lay of the land.
You have to "feel" the terrain under your feet - you have to be able to actually READ the contour lines on the map.

Some people go through life looking at contour lines on a map and all they really see is something that looks like a bowl of Spaghetti-O's spilled onto a sheet of butcher paper. Those people end up with their nose glued to their compass - hopelessly shackled to their pace count - never really able to free themselves to be at one with the terrain.

Rigid adherence to pace count and azimuth is like a prison - land navigation is all about diversity and inclusivity. Put away your compass and be free to just follow the north star. Stop messing with your "Ranger-Beads" and casually handrail the creek until it intersects the dirt road. If you only identify with a lensatic compass and a set of ranger beads to track your pace count it will influence and even bias your understanding of the terrain. While your nose is buried in the compass following some predetermined azimuth - you will miss the sound of an AK-47 selector lever being moved from safe to automatic...
...and then you get shot right in your ass

Maybe worse - maybe the round hits your flask - now everything in your ruck will smell like bourbon.
Oh sure - you'll fuck that little bastard up for taking a shot at you - you'll probably even shoot a few of his friends and confiscate all of their weapons and equipment, but what are you going to drink when you get back to the base camp?
...how are you going to explain to your friends that these fuckers got the drop on you?
...how long are they going to harass you about getting shot in the ass?

Trust me - positionality is the way of the future. It is the sociopolitical context that drives your identity; it determines how your identity (as an SF guy of course) influences and prejudices your attitudes toward others (I'm talking about those dirty nasty legs from Kansas and those hooligans from the Eighty-Douche).

Only when you learn to converse with the locals in their native tongue can you begin to conquer them from within.
Sure; cous-cous and goat liver tastes like shit - camel milk gives me the shits - but I'll ingest that shit for god and country. I'll drink mineral water and arugula salad - who cares. I'll even eat gluten-free pasta and a vegan cheeseburger if it will get these cock suckers to trust me alone in their house...
...sure, I'll stay here in your house and make protest posters while you go get another case of Krylon.

SJW's aren't stupid - you've got to fight them the SF way - from the inside - on their turf using their lingo.

Ranger beads? Pace counts? Azimuths? All you need to pass land-nav at Fort Benning is to take the exam after an engineer unit has. Then you just walk down the road until you seen engineer tape, and follow that into the woods until you see a pile of cyalume light sticks. Easy-peasy. And you are just as much of a land-nav expert as these SJWs are experts on, well, pretty much anything.

OT: Does anyone in the conventional forces teach that kinda shit anymore? I'm not asking whether it "sticks" with this or that student, but I remember things like that & thought it helped complete the actual concept of "land navigation" vs. just being a paper 2D concept. It was several decades back tho' so...

Sorry, now back to the positionality clinic.

As one Hillbilly to another: Positionality rules 'cept when it don't. And that there is when we take a sip of that there Bourbon, or Hootch if that Bourbon flask done got shot. Adjust azimuth, press on and aim to stay on the ridge!

Sheesh... That Box Feller sure is smart!! All that verbage for doctrine!! Hope he gets paid the "Big Bucks" for eating the gruel that passes as food for the SJW crowd as he makes friends. I wonder will Box have to under go group sex in order to fit in with these people like the Weather Underground people did?? Gender issues weren't the same back then like now. What gender will Box choose from all those now available?? Too much information!! I don't wanna know!! Well, maybe I do!! Don't ferget yer bottle of Wesson oil Box!!

Sigh, I'm just a simple minded Guerrilla here. My "positionality" is getting to be to find where the SJW crowd are hanging. Flip a nice size satchel charge through the window and double, or maybe triple time my way to my next "positionality."

On a more serious note, I had a run in with a BLM fellow traveler at the local super market a little while ago. Short little twerp dressed all in black enters the market, makes a bee line for my projected path as I walk down a long aisle. Probably saw the USA on my shirt and wanted some sort of confrontation. I politely side step resisting the urge to drop him with a elbow in the face while passing. I'm always veeery careful when I'm packing heat.

Anybody wearing all black is now not merely some sorta artist or Goth; he gets the
"Danger Will Robinson" routine.

Just keep head on swivel & don't get target fixated. In even "chance" encounters, they are often not alone. Cowards require numbers and one will be the iPhonevideographer.

Opposing Black Lives Matter Now Means Hate Crime Charges
Wed Jul 8, 2020 Daniel Greenfield
Frontpage

America is going to a bad totalitarian place at an incredible speed.

A California duo was charged with a hate crime for defacing a newly painted Black Lives Matter mural outside of a courthouse, officials announced Tuesday.

Painting over a political message you oppose is not a hate crime. Authorities who support that message using hate crime regulations to suppress protests are blatantly using the law to enforce their political affiliation.

As Anderson painted within the lines, allowing the letters “B” and “L” to remain visible, Nelson told onlookers: “we’re sick of this narrative.”

“The narrative of police brutality, the narrative of oppression, the narrative of racism,” Nelson declared. “It’s a lie.”

“I said no one wants Black Lives Matter here!” he added. “That’s what I said. All Lives Matter, you punk.”

This might at most be vandalism. It's not a hate crime. There's no expression of hatred or hostility for black people. There is a rejection of Black Lives Matter, a political movement.

Conflating the political movement with black people and then treating hostility to BLM as a hate crime makes opposition to a political movement into a crime. Treating it as one, while members of the racist Black Lives Matter movement tear down statues and terrorize people, is enlisting local authorities in that same campaign of political terror, punishing people for the political content of the vandalism, rather than for the act itself.

Anyone who engages in vandalism ought to be treated the same regardless of their political motives.

Instead, authorities are protecting BLM vandals while illegally throwing the book at opponents of BLM.

This is the same thing that blue state authorities did when they ruthlessly went after Reopen protests, while endorsing BLM riots.

There are effectively two justice systems and two sets of laws now for people based on the political context of their crime.

Anderson and Nelson were charged with vandalism, violation of civil rights and possession of tools to commit vandalism of graffiti.

2 out of 3 of those charges are illegitimate, a troubling precedent, and a reminder that the country is going to a very bad place that Russia, China, and Cuba have gone to before us.

BLM The Communist Front Organization:

WE the people of the U S A are at WAR: The DNC, The Democrat Political officials, The Socialist-Communist people who are the radical left are intending to take over the U S A, By any means necessary, the propped up presumptive POTUS for the DNC Joe Biden is nothing more than a construct, a made up person who is clearly impaired and has no cognitive ability. I look into his blank eyes and see the thousand yard stare, watch how he walks, his gait is that of a spent old man pretending to be the Joe of 50 years past. This is what the Democrat Communist want you to believe is a "man" who can lead this country. The political situation in the U S A is so toxic now that there can be no peaceful separation of the Grass Roots Right and the Radical Left; The only solution presented by the Radical Left is surrender. This I do not believe will happen, armed conflict is coming. My opinion...FWIW...

CA has such a thing in statute? Pray tell, what might these tools be. Armor-piercing Krylon? Assault Pressure Washer?

I echo EricV's advice: be careful out there. Don't seek confrontation - too many SJW's out there looking to become world star or u-tube famous. I've told friends, family, etc to be VERY careful these days as the new norm is for some goblin with a chip on his shoulder to create/engineer a confrontation while his buddy films it. The police won't help. You are on your own. Just walk away.

I carry at all times except when at work (Army base). I'll save that rant for another day....; but suffice to say that I am very careful and non-threatening due to that fact. I'm not "fearful," I am just ready to rapidly escalate that encounter into a situation wherein some people are going to be very unhappy with the outcome. Therefor, I mind my damned business, walk away, and stay in the "gray."

I don't do social media (except this site here); don't rant and rave in public; always watch my six. If the place looks sketchy, don't go there...period. Don't forget your training now that you are in CONUS, or a civilian....there are environments in some of our inner-cities that are as bad for a white boy as Fallujah was in '04.
