I personally know two fromer 18A's who were White House Fellows. Both went to Harvard for grad school after the Army. Good program, but not a real job. More like a year long "meet and greet"...

We had a hard-charging BN CDR in 1-7th SFG who had been a WH Fellow - an SF NCO and OCS grad - also an MOH recipient - went on to be a muckety-muck in the VA - good BN CDR who would mix it up with anyone interfering in his command.

They may have changed the program some...one of the White House Fellows this year is the Deputy Chief of Staff at GSA.

The program is the same, it's just that with all of the collateral duties, tours and social obligations, their posts are more or less part-time jobs. It's meant to be an introduction to government and policy making for promising leaders, not a selection process for staff jobs.

PM sent.
